The second photo (showing two fingers) was obviously photo shopped. If you look at the first one, you can see the child's "pointer" finger clearly down. The camera angle is exactly the same and if she did have two fingers up, the pointer would've showed from that angle. Compare the position of the child's fingers to the flowers on Sarah's coat. It doesn't add up. |

The peace sign photo is the correct one. First, stick your hand up like you are giving someone the finger. Your thumb is most likely touching your pointer finger. Now make the peace sign. You thumb is most likely crossing over to your ring finger. The thumb is definitely on the ring finger in both pictures.
Also, do you really think the woman standing behind the boy would be smiling down if Piper were giving someone the finger?
Really, people need to get a life and stop trying to sabotage the campaign for either person. Sounds to me like supporters of Obama are afraid of McCain so they have to use dirty tricks to try to sway people's votes and I have seen it the other way around as well. Sad.
Don't believe everything just because you read it or hear it from someone else. Research and make sure what you are believing is indeed fact. |

The British see the 'correct' photo and are just as amused as in the allegedly photoshopped one: "In the British Isles, the palm-back V sign has the same meaning as the finger." |

Actually in the UK holding up the middle finger with your palm pointing towards yourself and the nail towards the target means "P*ss off" or "Screw You". It's not considered to be really that rude. However, the V sign the little girl is giving in the second picture is MUCH ruder as it means "F*ck off" and if you do it to someone you've antagonised somehow you are quite likely to become embroiled in a fight.
The peace sign, and the victory sign (as popularised by Winston Churchill) in the UK at least, involves the same two fingers put the palm pointing facing outwards and the fingers nails towards ones self. |
